Keep Guns off Greensboro Playgrounds

Under the recently passed House Bill 650 loaded, hidden guns are now allowed in more public places. However, cities and counties have the right to prohibit guns in recreational facilities.

The Greensboro City Council is considering an ordinance that will keep guns out of city recreational facilities, including swimming pools athletic fields, and playgrounds.

Sign the petition below to show your support for this ordinance.  Send the message "there’s no room for a gun on a playground."

We will be delivering your signatures to the Greensboro City Council. Make sure your voice is heard before this critical vote -- sign today.

I urge you to keep loaded, hidden guns out of Greensboro's recreational facilities.
Just like most of the other residents of Greensboro, I'll feel less safe if loaded guns are allowed in athletic fields and playgrounds.

Please pass the ordinance prohibiting guns from our city's recreational areas.

    Kurt Vonnegut says it best:

It (a gun) makes the blackest of all human wishes come true at once, at a distance: that something die. There is evil for you. We cannot get rid of mankind’s fleetingly evil wishes. We can get rid of the machines that make them come true. I give you a holy word: DISARM.

The last thing our community needs in public places is a bunch of gun-toting lunatics. Please keep our children safe!

Any objective minded person would see that this is an undebatable issue.

No weapons whatsoever should be allowed within the premises and on any

public playground. It is my sincere prayer that the city council will see the

wisdom in this petition. Do not wait till the inevitable happen before you

take action. Please do it now so our children and grandchildren can have

safer place to play in peace.

I am horrified that this is even being considered. Very frightening!

It is frightening to think that children can be killed on City Parks and Recreation playgrounds, swimming pools, and athletic fields because loaded guns are allowed there. We need an ordinance that will prohibit guns from the City’s recreational areas, including all of our greenways around the City.

it is the reponsibility of adults to keep our children safe. Please take action to prohibit guns in our parks and recreation facilities, including athletic fields.
