The Time for Congress to Act is Now

To the North Carolina Congressional Delegation:

Far too many North Carolinians are injured or die from gun violence each year.

  • In 2014 in NC, there were 1204 firearms-related deaths and 47 children died as the result from a firearm.
  • North Carolina’s gun murder rate is 10% higher than the national average.
  • Over 30,000 Americans die from gun violence every year.

The time for inaction has passed.

Therefore, I stand in solidarity with those standing up to the gun lobby, and call on those in Congress to take action on gun violence prevention.

US Congress must protect Americans NOT election donors. We want a government of, for, and by “the people.”

This issue deserves a vote. How can you ignore the majority of the country WANTS Congress to take action on common sense gun reform? The goal of a leader is to KNOW what the majority of Americans want and expect our Congress to do. Congress continues to be gridlocked – completely out of touch with Americans. Our representatives were sent to Congress to work – not to be sidelined by partisan hype.
