On October 1, we witnessed yet another horrific mass shooting, this time at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon.
This was the 142nd school shooting since 2013 and the 294th mass shooting so far this year in America. Every day in this country, 88 people die from guns and 210 people are shot and injured.
Despite this staggering amount of violence, Congress has done nothing to pass a single sensible gun law since the Sandy Hook tragedy in December 2012. It’s time that we said enough is enough. Americans should be able to feel safe in their schools, churches, and everyday lives.
On October 8, a group of US Senators announced a Gun Violence Prevention Package that seeks to close background check loopholes, make background checks better, and shut down the pipeline of illegal guns.
You can bet our US Senators Tillis and Burr are hearing from pro-gun activists about this legislation. Make sure they hear your voice too by signing the petition below asking them to #actwithcourage to #stopgunviolence!
Dear Senators Burr and Tillis:
In response to the gun violence epidemic in our nation, a group of US Senators announced package of gun violence prevention legislation on October 8th that would close background check loopholes, make background checks better, and shut down pipeline of illegal guns. I urge you to ACT on gun violence and support this package. I ask that you act with courage and speak up for common sense gun regulations instead of gun lobby proposals.
