Toy Donations Needed
As part of our on-going expansion NCGV will be holding two "Peace Toys For War Toys" Toy Exchange in Durham this year.
At our Toy Exchanges we invite parents to bring their preschool and elementary school, and even some middle school children to exchange their old “war toys” for brand-new “peace toys.” War toys are any type of violent toy, from toy guns and swords to violent video games. Peace toys are those that encourage creative, cooperative, nonviolent activities.

Thanks to Project Safe Neighborhoods for collecting toys!
The purpose of the Durham Peace Toys for War Toys Exchange is to demonstrate that violence is not child’s play, and that our community is committed to instilling the values of peace and justice in our children. The event also serves as a community reminder of the staggering number of persons who have lost their lives to gun violence. You can be instrumental in helping to send this message by providing positive, fun, creative toys for kids participating in our program. Last year, over 100 children and parents attended the exchange at Lyon Park and we hope to reach children all over Durham this year! We invite you to share in this experience by making a tax-deductible contribution of sports toys, science toys or education toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, musical toys or art supplies to the Peace Toys for War Toys Exchange.
If you are short on time and prefer that we shop for you, you may make cash contribution. We guarantee that 100% of that contribution will be spent on the Toy Exchange! Just put Toy Exchange in the memo line of your check. We expect a large turnout of children and parents, and your generosity will help guarantee that no child leaves empty-handed. Please contact us if you have any questions about this program. All toys and cash donations must be made by July 31, 2008. Thank you for all that you do to help NCGV stem the tide of violence in North Carolina!
