If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them. -- Paul Wellstone
A majority of Americans believe in some measure of gun control-- however all too often gun safety legislation is beat back by a strong opposition. If we are to limit the threat of gun violence in our communities, we must all do our part.
We can no longer be silent. We must speak for the victims who cannot speak for themselves.

Work to expland NCGV's mission
As we continue to grow we need your help to reach across the state. Below are a ways to fight gun violence in your own community:
Join NCGV Members increase our political power and our grassroots strength : Click to Join
Build a local movement We'll help you do it! NCGV local movements are simply members coming together to work for gun safety in their neighborhoods, their children's school, their workplaces, and their state. Invite your neighbors over for a "ASK: Keeping Children Safe" party and begin a movement in your own town. For more information contact us and download our chapter building toolkit
Host an Event Every holiday season NCGV host our annual "Peace Toys for War Toys" a day that allows childrent to swap their war toys (toy guns, etc) for creative and fun toys that don't encourage violence. We've created a step by step plan for the event click here to access: Toy Exchange How To. We also have a variety of other event suggestions or call us with your unique event ideas. Who said stopping gun violence couldn't be fun?
Contact Your Legislator NCGV staff can only reach your legislators when they are at the capitol, you live in the same area as them. Schedule a visit with your representative when they are in their local office. Bring a group or your family, let them know why the next generation deserves a safe society. For information on gun laws in North Carolina call us or Brady Scorecard
Live in the Triangle? (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill)
NCGV could use your help locally:
Helping represent NCGV at public events, like street fairs and festivals, speaking engagements, etc.
Promoting grassroots advocacy in support of legislation (calling/writing legislators, passing out fliers, helping to get petition signatures)
Writing on behalf of the issue to newspapers and other media (helping to coordinate our public communications)
Helping with mailings, designing handouts and other printed materials
Please call or e-mail if you would like to help NCGV prevent gun violence. Be sure to let us know any specific skills you have!
