Keep Guns off NC Playgrounds
This past summer, our state government passed legislation making it legal for people to bring hidden, loaded guns into local parks. Imagine taking in the view from a historic coastal lighthouse with patrons who have the explicit right to carry a loaded handgun. Even worse, imagine loaded handguns on public playgrounds in your neighborhood.
NCGV is fighting to undo the most critical and dangerous pieces of this legislation, but we need your help to make it happen. The most urgent piece is to stop guns from entering public playgrounds and athletic facilities - our state’s children are our top priority. A playground is no place for a firearm.
Here are two ways you can help keep your neighborhood playgrounds safe:
- Urge your local city council to pass an ordinance keeping guns out of playgrounds, athletic fields and swimming pools.
- Make a donation of $10. We need your support as we strengthen our efforts across the state.
Already, NCGV is working with cities throughout North Carolina to pass this important ordinance. In each of these cities our members have made their voices heard. Letting their elected officials know “Guns have no place on a playground.”
NCGV will lead the fight on this dangerous and destructive new law. But we need you and your community to join us in mounting a statewide opposition. Your support today will allow us to reach more cities with this critical ordinance.
We are more determined than ever to keep North Carolina safe from gun violence and your support is vital to our efforts - Thank You.
